wintech historyWintech first started manufacturing contour cutting machines to produce surfboard blanks out of EPS back in 1985. The machine was so successful that several major companies approached Wintech with a view to purchasing machines for themselves for use in their own factories. This led to a situation where the management of Wintech had to make a decision, to stay in the surfboard industry, or branch out into machinery manufacture. Fortunately the decision was to continue with the machinery manufacture. The original Profiler Software ran on a Macintosh platform and was very advanced for the time. Initially Wintech concentrated on hot-wire machines but it became apparent very soon that an abrasive wire machine would have wide appeal and the decision was made to design and market such a machine under the “Fastwire” trademark. In October 1995 Wintech installed the first oscillating blade machine for processing flexible polyurethane foam. It was a single horizontal oscillating blade and not long after the first dual oscillating blade was released. This technology was revolutionary for the industry and where previous oscillating blade machines used a push pull cable system the new Wintech machine used a reciprocating gearbox which was subsequently patented. This allowed an increase in oscillation speed up from 30Hz to 50Hz. 1996 saw the release of the Compuset auto loading hot-wire machine. All the Wintech machines were very well received by the customers and Wintech began to sell machines in many overseas countries, thereby establishing itself as a global supplier of contour cutting machines. After a change of ownership in 2000 an improved version of the oscillating blade was released along with the new Profiler software on Microsoft Windows. 2008 saw the release of a new high speed blade machine with an oscillation speed of 60Hz, over double the competition. It also saw the release of the dual Fastwire machines in standard height and low profile versions. With a focus on continued product development, Wintech is committed to technical excellence and will continue to offer customers value for money. |
